Ásmundarsafn, November 2025

‘Unsure materials for a variety of numbers’ is a performance in the beginning state of research, a spontaneous meeting between the dancers Yelena Arakelow &#38;amp; Linde Hanna Rongen as part of Project HOFIE. The project is set to take place between Oslo and Reykjavik and premiere at Ásmundarsafn on the 24th of July 2026. It engages in a three-hour durational performance, moving and counting alternately without pause. One counts while the other moves, then they switch. Non-stop, the performance creates a living score that evolves differently in each space.

Studio Something &#124; Happens, Reykjavik, December 2025

"Studio Hours in Oslo" is an improvisation of the performative material I worked with during my Master's in Dance studies at KHiO. I spent hours on my own and with others dancing in and out of flow, sweating, shaking, searching for inconveniences and answers, writing, reflecting, reading, and chatting. The Asscrack Dance Practice was at heart. Sometimes the studio hours were in the state of being undressed, partially naked, or covered by clothes, and sometimes there was an imaginary crocodile.

<description>Crocodile, I Like The Way My Nails
Look At Me
A crocodile jumps to the bathroom
A dance wrestles to be rolled
A carpet rests like a lake
A naked bicycle runs for the tram

The performance "Crocodile, I Like The Way My Nails Look At Me" explores the interplay between flow and non-flow, beauty and disruption. It navigates inconvenience and playfully interrogates the act of being seen. It is a dance piece driven by sweating, shaking and stretching boundaries of imagination. What occurs in an imaginative world with a crocodile resting beside a lake of joyful tears while exposing one's flesh? "Crocodile, I Like The Way My Nails Look At Me" becomes an audacious space for experimentation – where vulnerability meets agency, and the dancing body defies expectation.

The research process of this Master in Dance project was guided by questions: What desire unfolds in juiciness? How can a fully charged movement resist momentum? What somatic and performative shifts occur when dancing when exposing flesh? How does an experience unfold and change over time in the insistence and exhaustion of performative material?

Dance improvisation is the core of Yelena's practice which she carefully combines with dance notations in the form of choreographic notes. Yelena's work wouldn't exist without collaboration. "Crocodile, I Like The Way My Nails Look At Me" is dearly inspired by and co-worked with her friends and artists Sunniva Møen Rorvik, Nora Auerbach, Sigrid Marie Kittelsaa Vesaas, and Sólbjört Vera Ómarsdóttir. &#38;lt;3

Dare I speak thoughts of wilderness passing like shivers of crocodiles calling above the surface water. Above the surface water, I wonder how can I let time pass slower, slower I can sink in sweat dripping past the concrete gasp. A gasp of details I wonder.
Is the wild body the body I have not tamed? Tame I tough for others’s sake.
shake. shake thou shall not rest. rest when thou shall shake.Warm are my cheeks, cold my feet. Heavy lies the head of tears in between
a gasp of sweat beneath my nails.

In a world full of capitalist crocodiles it’s time for an asscrack dance.
This dance reveals asscracks, likes innocent nudity, loves thirsty water bottles and cares for unconventional shaking.
The “Asscrack Dance Practice” showcases an exploration of
the asscrck dance scores which are part of Yelena’s MA Dance project
at the Oslo National Academy of Dance.
The scores are raw, sweaty, somatic and thirsty.

Waiting for a dance

This experimental dance performance proposes to the audience to indulge in the intimacy of waiting.
What does one experience in the state of waiting?
If we wait together, can we collectively experience desire for change? Unfolding time through repetition and nothingness increases the anticipation for something to happen. Perhaps something we don't yet know how to (...)link to trailer
